Hi ,
Welcome to one of the shortest work weeks of the year! In fact, if you are even reading this during Thanksgiving week here in the US, you are earning extra points. One of the first emails I opened this week was from Seth Godin with a link to his latest daily blog post,
If every day were Thanksgiving. As Seth put it, gratitude scales. Click through to the post and download the Thanksgiving Reader. You'll be glad you did.
Yes, it's a short week. But in a month, Christmas occurs on a Wednesday. Given that the holiday (and New Year's Day) are mid-week, maybe some people will be tempted to make that week an even shorter work week than this week. I guess we'll see.
This week on the blog, a new post on how tradeshows can be overwhelming, so it might suit you better to focus on just a few things. Also, I appear on the Up My Influence podcast, and a new TradeshowGuy Monday Morning Coffee that focuses on platforms.
Soundtrack for this week's episode is a classic:
Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It was the second album Elton released that year, the first being
Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player, and is generally considered his best. So six total sides of great music from Elton made it probably his most prolific year. I was still a teenager when Elton's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour swung through
Portland on August 30, 1973. I recall driving up to Portland from Bend, Oregon with a friend to see Elton. I don't remember much, except it was a great show. I do remember when Elton first came on stage, thousands
of young girls started screaming. The one right next to me said, "Oh my god, he's so SHORT!"
Happy Thanksgiving!
