Hi ,
While the pandemic continues it's insidious race through the world, it's been pushed off the front pages by the demonstrations and riots that have followed the death of another black man at the hands of another white police officer. I've been reading
piece after
piece on the storm that is sweeping the country, along with an oped from
Kareem Abdul Jabbar, a vintage1968
Esquire magazine interview with James
Baldwin shortly after the shooting of MLK, Jr. and a thoughtful piece on
Medium from Barack Obama.
These are unprecedented times.
Closer to home, an interview with Jonathan Tavss on this week's podcast about the future of digital events. It's a good one, don't miss it. And a longer blog post on ways to level up your Zoom and other video skills and presentation (thanks to Ken Newman for his input!).
Soundtrack for this week's newsletter:
David Bowie's Black Tie White Noise, the first solo Bowie album from the 90s. Released in 1993, Wikipedia says "This album was an attempt to make "a new kind of melodic form of
house" music and featured his old guitarist from the
Ziggy Stardust era,
Mick Ronson, who died of cancer 24 days after the album's release. This album
was inspired by his own wedding and includes tracks such as "The Wedding" and its reprise at the end of the album as a song reflecting the occasion.
