Donald Robertson, better known as @drawbertson, went from art school failure to Fashion's favorite artist. Known as the Andy Warhol of Instagram, his impressive career spans decades of roles that anyone would dream of having. In his early Canadian days, he worked on a tiny brand that no one had ever heard of called M.A.C. He spent years as a creative director going through Hearst's revolving door and later on lunching with the big wigs in the infamous Conde Nast cafeteria. Throughout it all,
Donald has maintained his childish instincts and willingness to do absolutely anything. And he is not shy about poking harmless fun at some of Fashion's biggest players.
As a long-time, S.V.P. of creative disruption at Estée Lauder companies, Donald's proudest project is his very first M.A.C. ViVA Glam campaign. Robertson says his Google search speaks for itself. Several fun collaborations with fashion friends and celebrities that span the globe have made this world-famous "Art D.A.D." an inspiration to aspiring artists. Robertson is a big believer and teacher on how to "live like a finance guy but do art for a living." He believes in art for the masses and
loves nothing more than seeing his work in someone's home.

Below are some bits of wisdom I’ve found on blogs and newsletters over the last few months. — CD
On being true to yourself: “Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.” — Anne Rice [via
The Magnet]
On finding inspiration everywhere: “I heard once about a Yiddish poet who lived in utter poverty and misery, a teenager, who never had seen anything beautiful in his life, and he made splendid poems about vegetables jumping into the soup pot. My idea being that for the sublime and the beautiful and the interesting, you don’t have to look far away. You have to know how to see.” — Hedda Sterne [via
Austin Kleon]
On identity: “Some people have a lot farther to go from where they begin to get where they want to be—a long way up the mountain, and that is how it has been for me. I don’t feel I am getting older; I feel I am getting closer.” — D.H. Lawrence [via
Wellness Wisdom]
On transforming your life: "I’ve never seen any life transformation that didn’t begin with the person in question finally getting tired of their own bullshit.” — Elizabeth Gilbert [via
