As summer winds down, I see in the Oregon forecast some rain this weekend. I'm good with that - we really need the rain on the west coast so I'll take it.

 

I caught up with Shep Hyken again, the second time this summer. This time it was on the occasion of the impending release of his new book. Fun conversation, I have no doubt you'll enjoy it and pick up some good stuff. You should also pick up the book!

Soundtrack for this week's issue: R.E.M. collection. In the early 80s I had just moved to Portland from Salem. I was playing lots of music (writing a lot of music TBH), living with a great girlfriend (we later parted but remained friends), and listening to alternative music like there was nothing else. Whenever R.E.M. put out a new release we'd play it endlessly, trying to pick out clues and bits and pieces to unlock their secrets, when in fact they didn't really have any. They were just doing something a little different, and doing it well.
